Paula Srur Carcar is a composer from Buenos Aires, Argentina, currently majoring in Film and Media Scoring at Berklee College of Music with a minor in Theory of Jazz and Popular Song. In Buenos Aires, she studied Composition and Piano Performance at the National University of the Arts and obtained a diploma in Professional Music at the Contemporary Music School. Her music has been featured in concerts and performed by ensembles worldwide, ranging from symphonic and chamber orchestras to folkloric and popular groups. Through the years, she has taken private lessons with professors from all around the world to develop her craft, including composers Juan “Pollo” Raffo, Pedro Mercau, Nicolás Franza, Tomás Murmis and Carmen Marsico. 

She was selected to participate on the NYU Screen Scoring Workshops, where she got to record an original piece with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, from the NYU facilities. While living in New York, she worked as a music assistant for the bilingual musical AZUL, with music from Jacinta Clusellas and orchestrations and arrangements from legends Alex Lacamoire (Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen) and Kurt Crowley (Hamilton), selected for the O’Neill Residency, and presented at 54 Below and Joe’s Public and Public Theatre. Concurrently, she was hired by Lucía Caruso and Pedro da Silva as a studio assistant for their film scoring studio Light and Sound and their chamber orchestra Manhattan Camerata. Paula has worked on the scores for various audiovisual projects in Argentina, Boston and New York, including feature and short films, music videos, documentaries, musicals, and plays; and wrote additional music for the production company Reel One Entertainment. Awards in this field include Winner of Public’s Choice Awardand Winner of Best Video from the 2020 and 2021 editions of the Film University’s Online Video Festival, respectively. 

She was recently selected to be part of the music team for the 2024 LAFCI Studio Intensive, in which they recorded an orchestral album, including orchestrations and arrangements by William Ross and Conrad Pope at Eastwood Scoring Stage, in Warner Bros. Studios. She was also selected to participate in the 2024 Score Production Workshop by Joy Music House, in which composed, orchestrated and produced an original orchestral piece, recorded at legendary EastWet Studios in Los Angeles.

In addition to her experience in media scoring, she has participated as an arranger in a variety of live concerts, including International Folk Festival, 2023 Hits & Heat Concert, Latin America Vive Festival, 40 , among others. Even more, she currently works as an assistant arranging supervisor for the Berklee Presents team, which produces the largest Berklee productions, such as Singers Showcases, Berklee Amplify Gala and the Commencement Concerts. This position involves working side-by-side with arranger phenomenon Tsunenori “Lee” Abé.

Her passion in collaborations and mixture of music genres has led her to get involved with many Berklee initiatives since she first arrived to Boston in January of 2023, which led her to become the President of the Latin Association of Berklee Students and the Executive director of Berklee’s largest student-led club, Berklee Motion Picture Orchestra. With the Latin Association she has produced and served as a co-musical director on several concerts; her biggest concert Idolos Latinos was held on March 28th of 2024 at Berklee Performance Center

She believes music and storytelling are foundational elements of every culture and seeks to engage in projects that honor and integrate diverse traditions through a blend of these art forms.
